Self-drive visit to FarmED

27th June 2021 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Honeydale Farm (FarmED)
  • Station Road (A361)
  • Shipton-under-Wychwood
  • OX7 6BJ

Following the much appreciated zoom talk by Emma Harris-Bass of the Chadlington Kitchen Garden People in March, we are arranging a self-drive visit for Garden Society members to FarmED, Honeydale Farm near Shipton where the Kitchen Garden People are part of a new centre for farming and food education, focusing on the crucial link between good food and good farming. The lecture space and kitchen are surrounded by the farm with crop rotation and trial plots, natural flood management, woodland and wildlife habitats, livestock, orchard and apiary.

This will be a guided walk, led by Emma, and will start at 2pm. Children welcome.

The car park is situated next to the FarmED buildings, with disabled and easy access parking.

The visit will involve a fair amount of walking on sometimes uneven ground, but there are seating areas for rest near FarmED's eco buildings.

Refreshments will be provided on the day, but visitors are welcome to bring their own, to enjoy while admiring the extensive views over the Evenlode valley at the end of the walk.

There’ll be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and find out about everything from regenerative agriculture to sustainable food.

This visit coincides with Open Farm Day, so the site will be busy!

To register for this self-drive visit, please send an email to membership@charlburygardensociety.org.uk with your name(s), number of visitors, and mobile number if we need to contact you on the day.

Car sharing is advisable if at all possible. If you are willing to offer a lift to others, please indicate how many spare seats you might have. Conversely, if you would like to come but would need a lift, please let us know in case we can arrange it.
